Why there is no single Invisalign price
Clear aligner treatment is planned for one set of teeth. Two people can walk in asking for Invisalign® and leave with plans that differ in the number of trays, the number of check-in visits and the months involved, because their teeth need to move different distances. A price published for everyone would be wrong for most people, so In Line Dentistry does not publish one. Instead, the price for your plan is put in writing at your exam, itemized, before anything starts. The number you see is the number you pay.
What decides the price
- How far the teeth need to move. Closing a small gap or tidying mild crowding is a shorter plan than correcting how the upper and lower teeth meet. Fewer trays, fewer visits, lower cost.
- How many teeth are involved. A plan that touches a few front teeth is simpler than one that moves teeth across the whole arch.
- Whether both arches are treated. Some cases involve the upper teeth only; most involve both.
- Refinements. Teeth do not always move exactly as planned, and a plan may include a second short series of trays to finish. Whether that is part of the written price is stated on it.
- The system. In Line offers two, and Dr. Chon recommends one for your case, as below.
Invisalign and OrthoFX: two systems Dr. Chon offers
Both are clear aligner systems: a series of custom, removable trays that move the teeth a small step at a time, planned digitally and supervised by Dr. Chon in person. In Line fits both, and Dr. Chon mainly uses OrthoFX. He recommends one for your case at the consultation, based on how your teeth need to move, and explains his reasons. Asking for one by name is fine. The article on Invisalign vs OrthoFX compares the two systems in more detail.
What the consultation covers
The consultation is free. Dr. Chon takes a digital scan of your teeth, looks at how they meet, and tells you plainly whether aligners suit your case or whether something else would serve you better. If aligners are right, he recommends a system and you receive an itemized written price for that plan. It is a plan for your teeth, priced for your teeth, and it is yours to take home and think about. Nothing is booked until you decide.
If you are new to the practice, the consultation can be paired with the new-patient visit: an exam, digital X-rays and a cleaning for $95 flat, or $0 with an active PPO plan. The guide to your first visit covers what happens at it.
Insurance, membership and financing
Some PPO plans include an orthodontic benefit. In Line is in-network with Aetna Dental, Anthem Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Cigna Dental, Delta Dental (Premier and PPO), Guardian Dental, Humana Dental, MetLife Dental and UnitedHealthcare Dental. With any other PPO plan you pay at the visit, In Line files your claim the same day, and your insurer reimburses you, with an estimate beforehand. The office checks your benefits before you come in. The guide to out-of-network PPO insurance explains each step. Members of the In Line plan receive their member discount on treatment; how it applies to your plan is shown on the written price.
Financing is available on approved credit through CareCredit, Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, Sunbit, LendingClub and Proceed Finance. The lender sets the terms, and because the written price comes first, you know the total before you apply. The financing guide compares the partners.
