What the first visit includes
A first visit at In Line Dentistry is a complete checkup in one appointment, with four parts:
- A comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums and bite.
- Digital X-rays, so nothing below the gum line is guessed at.
- A professional cleaning.
- A personal treatment plan that says what, if anything, needs attention.
The price is $95 flat, or $0 with an active PPO plan. Plans that cover preventive care at 100% make the exam, X-rays and cleaning $0 out of pocket. Without insurance, $95 is one flat price for the whole visit, with no membership or sign-up required. The new patients page has the full details.
Before you arrive
Book online or call the office. If you have dental insurance, give the office your carrier and member ID when you book. Your benefits are verified before your visit, so you know what your plan covers before you sit down.
In Line is in-network with eight major PPO carriers (listed on the insurance page), and other PPO plans are welcome out-of-network. Out-of-network, that means you pay the practice, In Line files your claim the same day, and your insurer reimburses you, with an estimate beforehand. The insurance page and the guide to out-of-network PPO insurance walk through it step by step.
A few things make the day easier:
- Bring your insurance card if you have one.
- Mention it when you book if dental visits make you anxious. Nitrous oxide is available, and it is the only sedation In Line offers, so it is arranged before your visit.
- Say which language you prefer. Visits can be held in English, Spanish, Korean or Vietnamese.
- Book the family together if you like. In Line sees patients of all ages.
When the visit happens
Dr. Chon sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that is when first visits are scheduled. The office is open Monday through Saturday for booking, billing and questions. The practice is at 20855 Golden Springs Dr #108, Diamond Bar, CA 91789, with free parking right outside.
What happens at the appointment
The visit is unhurried by design. You meet the team, and you can tour the office and ask anything before the clinical part begins.
Dr. James Chon, DMD, examines your teeth and gums and reviews your digital X-rays. The X-rays show what an eye cannot: decay between teeth, the roots, and the bone that holds everything in place. Your teeth are cleaned during the same appointment.
Then comes the conversation. Dr. Chon explains what he found in plain language, and if everything looks healthy, that is what he tells you. There is no pressure and no upselling: the point of the first visit is a straight answer about where your mouth stands.
If you need treatment
Anything the exam turns up goes into your personal treatment plan with an itemized written price, and nothing starts until you have seen it and agreed. Some fees are published: a dental implant is $1,990 per implant including the abutment and crown, and porcelain veneers are priced per tooth by how many teeth are treated. Fillings, crowns and most other treatment are priced in writing at your exam. Every published price is on the pricing page.
For a root canal, a full arch or dentures, Dr. Chon examines you, explains the options, and tells you plainly whether the work is treated here or by a specialist he refers you to. The full-arch and dentures page and the root canals page explain how that works.
If the total is more than you want to pay at once, financing is available on approved credit through CareCredit, Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, Sunbit, LendingClub and Proceed Finance. See how financing works.
If you are in pain now
A toothache or a broken tooth does not need to wait for a routine first visit. Dr. Chon sees genuine emergencies the same day, including on days outside his usual schedule, and the emergency visit is the same $95 flat visit, or $0 out of pocket with an active PPO plan. The emergency care page covers what to do first.
