What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or throbbing toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, swelling in the gum or face, a lost crown or filling, or bleeding that won't stop. Facial swelling reaching your eye or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing, is a medical emergency — go to the ER first; we'll handle the tooth after.
How much is an emergency visit, and what does it cover?
It is the same new-patient visit — $95 flat, or $0 with an active PPO plan — with no separate emergency fee. It covers the focused exam of the problem tooth and the digital X-rays needed to diagnose it, so you leave knowing exactly what is wrong and what it costs to fix. Any treatment you decide on is quoted in writing before it starts.
What if I have PPO insurance?
You're welcome here, including out-of-network. We verify benefits before the visit and give you an estimate; you pay at the visit, we file your claim the same day, and your insurer reimburses you. Give us your card details on the phone and we'll check before you arrive.
My tooth was knocked out — what do I do right now?
Pick it up by the crown, never the root. Rinse gently with milk or saline if it's dirty and try to seat it back in the socket; if you can't, keep it in a cup of milk and call us immediately. A knocked-out adult tooth is most savable within the first hour.
Can I go to urgent care or the ER for tooth pain?
An ER can manage swelling, infection, and pain with medication, but rarely has a dentist on staff — so the tooth goes untreated and the problem returns. Unless you have facial swelling, fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing, a dental office is where the tooth actually gets fixed, and it costs far less.
