Teeth whitening cost in Diamond Bar

The published $300 in-office price, the laser and take-home options priced at the exam, what whitening acts on, and why a cleaning comes first.

Teeth Whitening

The published price

In Line Dentistry publishes one whitening price: in-office whitening is $300. It is a cash price, so no insurance is needed to use it, and it is the number you pay. The session is done in the chair on Golden Springs Dr by the dental team, with your gums protected and the gel applied and timed for you.

Two further options are offered and priced in writing at your exam, because the right approach depends on the teeth in front of Dr. Chon:

  • Laser whitening. An in-office session in which a light activates the whitening gel.
  • Take-home whitening. Custom trays made from a scan or impression of your teeth, worn at home with a professional gel over a period the team sets.

Neither is published as a range. If Dr. Chon recommends one of them for you, the price is itemized in writing before it starts. Every published price at the practice is on the Diamond Bar dental cost guide.

Cleaning first

Whitening acts on the enamel it touches. Plaque and tartar sit between the gel and the tooth, and a tooth with decay or an irritated gum around it needs treating before it is whitened. So every whitening plan at In Line starts with an exam and a cleaning. For a new patient that is the new-patient visit: an exam, digital X-rays and a cleaning for $95 flat, or $0 with an active PPO plan. Whitening can then be planned at that visit, with the price in writing.

Who whitening is for

Whitening lightens natural tooth enamel. It does not change the color of crowns, veneers, bonding or tooth-colored fillings, so the plan takes account of any that sit in your smile line. Teeth that are already sensitive can still be whitened; say so at the exam and the approach is adjusted. Dr. Chon tells you plainly at the exam whether whitening is the right step for your teeth, or whether something else, such as a cleaning alone, would get you what you are after. The page on teeth whitening in Diamond Bar covers how each option works, sensitivity and what affects how long it lasts.

Whitening before other cosmetic work

If veneers, bonding or a crown on a front tooth are part of your plan, whitening usually comes first, so the new work is matched to the lighter shade rather than the old one. Dr. Chon sequences it at the exam. The smile makeover page explains how whitening, aligners, bonding and veneers are ordered and priced together.

Insurance, membership and financing

Dental plans generally treat whitening as cosmetic and do not cover it; the $300 is a cash price for that reason. A PPO plan still applies to the exam and cleaning that come first. In Line is in-network with Aetna Dental, Anthem Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Cigna Dental, Delta Dental (Premier and PPO), Guardian Dental, Humana Dental, MetLife Dental and UnitedHealthcare Dental. With any other PPO plan you pay at the visit, In Line files your claim the same day, and your insurer reimburses you, with an estimate beforehand. The In Line Member plan's Complete tier, $599 a year, includes birthday laser whitening; see the membership page for both tiers. Financing is available on approved credit through CareCredit, Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, Sunbit, LendingClub and Proceed Finance.

Where to start

Book the new-patient visit for a Tuesday or Thursday, when Dr. Chon sees patients. Say at booking that you are interested in whitening, and it is planned at the visit with the price in writing.

Questions

Teeth whitening cost questions

Do I need a cleaning before teeth whitening?

Yes, and it is the first step at In Line. Whitening gel acts on the enamel it touches, so plaque and tartar are removed first and the teeth are checked for decay or gum problems that would need treating before any whitening. For a new patient that is the first visit, $95 flat, or $0 with an active PPO plan: an exam, digital X-rays and a cleaning.

What is the difference between in-office, laser and take-home whitening?

In-office whitening is done in the chair in one visit, with the gums protected and the gel applied by the team, for a published $300. Laser whitening uses a light to activate the gel during an in-office session. Take-home whitening is a set of custom trays and gel worn at home over a period the team sets. The last two are priced in writing at your exam.

Is teeth whitening covered by dental insurance?

Whitening is cosmetic, and dental plans generally do not cover it, which is why In Line publishes it as a cash price: $300 for in-office whitening, no insurance needed. If you have a PPO plan, it still applies to the exam and cleaning that come first; the office checks your benefits before the visit.

Does the In Line membership include whitening?

The Complete plan, $599 a year, includes birthday laser whitening along with four cleanings, unlimited emergency visits and 40% off most treatments. The Essential plan, $449 a year, does not include whitening; members receive their standing discount on it instead. Both are discount plans, not insurance.
